How super is Super Tuesday? |

| It's the biggest election night for presidential candidates since 2020. Sixteen states and territories are voting in "Super Tuesday" primaries that are certain to drag both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden closer to the general election rematch that many Americans dread. Trump is expected to obliterate former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley's challenge and move to the threshold of his third straight GOP nomination. Say what you like about the ex-President, who tried to crush US democracy to stay in power four years ago, it's a stunning political comeback. Biden, who is effectively running for the Democratic nomination unopposed, is already looking forward to a general election showdown with Trump — as he seeks to ease public concerns about his age and capacity to fully serve out a second term. In many ways, this Tuesday won't have been super at all. The suspense that normally greets primary results from Maine to California and North Carolina to Alaska is non-existent. There's been no doubt about who will be the Republican nominee for weeks, for instance, after Trump confirmed his polling leads with early state wins. For months, the Biden campaign has been explaining away the President's terrible opinion poll numbers by saying that many Americans who aren't into politics haven't even realized that Trump will be on the ballot in November. After Tuesday, with Trump expected to be within a few primary wins of becoming the presumptive GOP nominee, that argument becomes a lot harder to make. The inescapable takeaway from Tuesday's voting will be one that is likely to be very unpleasant to many readers watching America's election overseas: Trump is back, and he's got a 50 percent chance or better of being the next US President. Watch the results come in here. | |

| 'Losers are never graceful' | Biden is preparing for a bitter election battle with Trump in November. He told Evan Osnos of the New Yorker that "losers who are losers are never graceful." He added: "I just think that he'll do anything to try to win. If—and when—I win, I think he'll contest it. No matter what the result is." | |
