How Trump could ban abortions across the US

For decades, the anti-abortion movement in the US worked toward one major goal: the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Once they accomplished that in 2022, they pivoted to a new one — using the federal government to ban abortion nationwide. It's the issue on everyone's minds in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election, one with details that can get murky and strong opinions on all sides. And as an expert told us, Donald Trump's game plan from the beginning of his political career has been to be intentionally confusing about where he stands on abortion. With this video, we set out to do one thing: clearly and concisely explain the ways a Trump administration could reduce access to abortion or all-out eliminate it. Producer Adam Freelander interviewed experts across the fields of policy, law, and politics to craft a nuanced, precise piece that boils this complicated information down into a 10-minute video. We can't tell you what will happen on November 5, but we can tell you what could happen afterward to one of the most essential issues facing the US today. —Bridgett Henwood, co-executive producer and editorial director, Vox video |
