Good evening. Here's the latest at the end of Tuesday.
🇺🇸 2024 The presidential election is 84 days away. Here's the latest from the campaign trail.
Arizona and Missouri will vote on abortion in NovemberArizona voters will decide on Election Day whether to establish a right to abortion in the state Constitution. The ballot measure is a major victory for Democrats, who have used the issue of abortion to energize their voters. In the two years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, abortion rights groups have prevailed in all seven states that have put the issue of how to regulate the practice directly to voters. Now, Democrats are hoping to carry that momentum into a battleground state that is critical to the presidential election as well as the control of the Senate. "Poll numbers for abortion rights are higher than poll numbers for Kamala Harris," my colleague Kate Zernike, who covers abortion, told me. "In Arizona, Democrats think this ballot measure can really help them draw more voters." A similar question will appear on the ballot in Missouri, state officials there said today. But the stakes are very different, Kate said. Harris is unlikely to win the state even with the measure on the ballot, but the outcome would send a message about support for abortion access in red states. If voters pass the measure, Missouri would become the first state where voters overturned a near-total ban, radically reshaping access for millions of residents. Here's what else to know:

Hamas said it would not participate in new truce talksHamas will not take part in the new round of cease-fire talks set for Thursday, an official for the group said. The announcement sent a strong signal that a breakthrough in negotiations was still elusive despite international pressure on Hamas and Israel to reach a deal. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel also added new conditions to his demands for a cease-fire, according to documents reviewed by The Times. His own negotiators feared the changes created extra obstacles to a deal.
Ukraine's incursion has upended the dynamics of the warUkraine is now a week into its most audacious military offensive in Russian territory since the war began well over two years ago. The attack, which was launched in an effort to alter the course of a war that Ukraine appeared to be losing, surprised even Kyiv's closest allies, including the U.S. Here's how it happened. Our Kyiv bureau chief, Andrew Kramer, traveled into Russian borders to witness the aftermath of Ukraine's surprise attack. He also spoke to Ukrainians living near the border with Russia. "There was also a sense of some payback," Andrew told The Headlines. "One Ukrainian woman who been evacuated from a border village was saying it was time now for the Russians to feel what war is like."
Summer heat can damage mailed medicationMillions of Americans now receive their prescription medications through mail-order shipments, either for convenience or because their health plans require it. But the temperatures inside delivery trucks can reach 150 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer, potentially endangering recipients' health by overheating their medications. My colleague Emily Baumgaertner explained what you can do to protect your prescriptions. More top news
The little streaming service that couldJust two years ago, Tubi was virtually unknown. A free streaming service, it had been around for several years, but many people were still searching "Is it a scam?" Now, it consistently outranks larger competitors like Peacock, Max, Paramount+ and Apple TV+. Tubi, which was purchased by Fox in 2020, is best known for its library of tens of thousands of older shows and movies. It has a particularly strong following among Black viewers: In June, 46 percent of Tubi's audience was Black, and it's the only major streaming service that has a greater share of Black viewers than white viewers.
Decades after child stardom, Haley Joel Osment is contentA quarter-century ago, Haley Joel Osment was one of Hollywood's biggest box-office stars after his breakout performance in "The Sixth Sense." He wasn't even 12 yet. But unlike many other child stars, Osment has found a balanced life and continued working steadily. For that, he credits his parents. "The career path as an actor is like, you can kind of just keep doing it until you drop dead one day, which is what I'd like to do," Osment said.

Dancing the undanceable, for laughsSarah McCreanor, better known as Smac, is part dancer, part comedian. Her physical comedy evokes vaudevillian slapstick, but with a distinctly modern twist. Tens of millions of people have watched her clips in which she mimics objects being crushed by a hydraulic press. McCreanor's videos are goofy, but they're also underpinned by serious dance technique, as well as training in theater. "I think one of the funniest things you can do is try to dance the undanceable," she said. Have an expressive evening. Thanks for reading.
