Hurricane Debby, which made landfall in Florida, could produce historic levels of rainfall across the Southeast this week.

The storm came ashore at Steinhatchee, in a sparsely populated stretch of the Florida coastline where Hurricane Idalia came ashore less than a year ago.

Though Debby is a weaker storm than Idalia was, its slower pace means it will dump significant amounts of rain across the Southeast U.S. over the next several days. Already, millions of people in Tampa and other parts of the Florida Gulf Coast were under flash flood alerts on Monday.
